My Awesome Trip To Canberra - Noah

I don’t really travel all that much but one trip that I remember and really enjoyed was my trip to Canberra. About 4 years ago, a few friends and I went to Canberra for a school event. I was a little nervous but also really excited because it was the furthest I had ever been away from home. The trip was mostly to see the Parliament buildings.

The trip started on the bus from school. The bus was two storeys and of course I was up on the second one! It took a very long time for us to get to Canberra, about 4 hours in total. We were planning to stay there for a week.

Once we arrived, we took our suitcases off the bus and we had to drag it along for 5 minutes until we reached our hotel. The teachers gave us our very own keycards so we could get into our rooms. We were then assigned groups so we could be with our friends. Once we chose our friends we could not swap rooms. They were identical twins in our group and I was the only one who could tell them apart!

The first activity that we did was to visit Questacon. There was this big slide that was so steep that you had to wear a special suit to slide down. The line was huge but I didn’t mind waiting; there were probably three staircases going straight up. When I finally reached the top, it was much higher than I thought! The way we had to go down was told on to a bar and press our chin down. When it was my turn, I didn't mean to let go because I was scared! Eventually I let go and I zoomed down! My heart was racing -  I was frozen in fear! Eventually I unfroze and all of us left the giant slide. We went up a ramp and then we reached this big room. The thing that caught my eye was this giant cage which had a sign hanging above it and it said ‘electric cage’. It had a timer to go off in a minute. I was curious so I waited around until a minute elapsed. All of a sudden this big crashing sound started to happen; one of my friends said, “It made me jump six feet in the air!” Then when I looked at the electric cage it was lightning in the cage.

I really enjoyed this trip because all the technology in Questacon was awesome. I would really recommend a trip there!
