What It's Like To Stay In Pakistan - Johnathon

Pakistan is a great place to go, people are very nice over there, the airports there are very clean, and there are a lot of places you can explore. The food in Pakistan is very nice and the culture is very bright. I recently went to Pakistan in 2020. I went before the pandemic hit, which was very lucky. It was winter at the time, it got really cold at night.

I remember waking up at 6 am in my bed, to the noise of my family getting prepared to leave the house to go to the airport. Once we had arrived at the airport we did all the usual stuff like the security checks and luggages. We arrived at the gate and went inside the plane. The flight was from Australia to thailand. When we arrived in Thailand I ordered some hungry jacks inside the airport, the food there was twice as much as what is served in Australia. I couldn’t finish it all but I ate a hefty amount. We went on our next flight which was around 6 hours to pakistan. We landed in Pakistan and went through the security measures. We met up with my cousins and uncles right outside the airport, and we took a taxi home.

While in Pakistan I visited many of my cousins' homes, we were served a lot of traditional foods, like halva, kulcha, naan, pi, niharee, etc. the food tasted very good and it was a lot of fun being around with my cousins. We also visited a couple of malls. One mall that caught my attention was insanely big and had a lot of shops inside them, like restaurants and clothing to hotels and pubs. The mall had a lot of security, many of the guards holding assault rifles.

Going deep into pakistan, where a lot of people lived, was very dirty and smelled awful, although the people that lived there did not mind it at all, I suppose because they had lived their entire lives there. On the streets there were many different shops, it felt like there was a shop for everything, your motorcycle is broken? No worries there's a repair shop down the bottom. The streets were very noisy and the traffic was really bad, it was as if there were no laws for traffic, people were crossing the road without a second look into oncoming traffic, people seemed very used to it.

One thing I noticed was that a lot of people loved flying kites, there were many different types of kites and a lot of the time people would try to take down other people's kites with their own by creating friction between the strings while in the air. While i was in Pakistan i went to my cousin’s wedding, it was a lot of fun, there was dancing, singing, a variety of food and drinks.

My favourite part was just being with my cousins and hanging out, we would often stay up to 1 am just talking about stuff, it was by far the most enjoyable moment in Pakistan. Leaving was very emotional for a lot of us (my family, and cousins), knowing that i wont see them in a really long time made me feel a bit upset but i was glad that i could be there.
